About skyler
Skyler Herrick was born and raised in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. At the age of five, she began taking her first dance classes at Chatham Dance Connection. She explored many different styles including contemporary, ballet, jazz, musical theatre, and tap, which led her to love the versatility of dance. She grew up performing in musicals, competing in dance competitions, and was captain of her school’s dance team. In 2023, Skyler earned her BFA in Contemporary Dance at The University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where she performed in works by Ashley Lindsey, Abdur-Rahim Jackson, Gaspard Louis, José Limón, Merce Cunningham, Kira Blazek Ziaii, Juel D Lane, and Mariana Oliviera. She is currently based in New York City, where she is a Kenan Fellow at Lincoln Center, choreographing her own works, and freelance performing in contemporary and musical theatre works. Skyler is also a singer and actress, and has performed/recorded vocals professionally for the Red Clay Ramblers, multiple studio albums, and broadcast television. Most recently, she performed with Chamber Dance Project in Christian Denice’s new work as the vocalist.
